Capturing Maduro, Putin's ally: US targets Venezuela's oil
Dmitry Medvedev and Putin

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, has stated that the real goal of the American operation in Venezuela was to secure access to the country's oil and other fossil fuels.

According to Medvedev, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has repeatedly stressed that the current US administration aims to appropriate the country's natural resources. He added that this goal, according to him, has not been hidden even by Donald Trump himself, underlining that energy interests lie at the core of American intervention.

For months, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was under constant surveillance by US intelligence services.

His every move was monitored in detail: where he slept, what he ate, what he wore, even his pets. The intelligence team also included sources within the Venezuelan government itself. It was the silent preparation of an operation that would radically change the balance in Latin America.

In early December, the plan codenamed “Operation Absolute Resolve” was finalized, the result of months of secret planning and intensive training. Elite American troops had even built a life-size replica of Maduro’s safe haven in Caracas to practice entering the target. A military intervention of such magnitude, according to officials, had not been seen in the region since the Cold War.

The US Congress was not informed in advance, to maintain absolute surprise. The order to launch the mission came at 10:46 p.m. Eastern Time, just before midnight in Caracas. President Donald Trump gave the green light after weather conditions were deemed ideal.

“We were waiting for the right moment,” Trump himself declared. The operation took place over two hours, from the air, land and sea, with unprecedented precision.
