The Pentagon is reportedly calling on Japan and Australia to clarify their position in the event of an armed confrontation between the United States and China over Taiwan, according to a report in the Financial Times.
The newspaper reports that US Undersecretary of State for Civil Defense, Elbridge Colby, has raised the issue in recent talks with senior defense officials in Tokyo and Canberra, citing sources familiar with the discussions.
