Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the war against the United States and Israel will only end when Iran is sure that similar attacks will not happen again and that compensation for damages will be paid.
In an interview published by the Al-Araby Al-Jadeed news portal, Araghchi said that the experience of the past conflict has led Tehran to seek clear guarantees.
"This war will end when we are sure that it will not happen again and that compensation will be paid. We experienced this last year: Israel attacked, then the US came back, regrouped and attacked us again," he declared, referring to the June 2025 military clash.
In the same interview, the Iranian top diplomat said that Tehran has "a lot of evidence" that, according to him, shows that American bases in the Middle East are used for attacks against the Islamic Republic.
According to Araghchi, this evidence includes satellite imagery and electronic surveillance data. He added that missiles used in attacks against Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf - home to Iran's main oil export terminal - were launched from the territory of the United Arab Emirates.
The Iranian minister also called on other countries to avoid actions that could escalate the conflict. During a phone call with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, he urged states to “refrain from any action that could lead to the expansion of the war,” according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
His statements come after US President Donald Trump called on several countries, including France, China, Japan and the United Kingdom, to send warships to protect global oil shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic corridor that Iran has partially blocked.
