German Vice Chancellor Lars Klingbeil told the RND network that Germany would not participate in a US-Israeli war against Iran, also expressing doubts about the legality of such a conflict under international law.
"I say it very clearly: This is not our war. We will not participate in this war," Klingbeil said.
At the same time, Lars Klingbeil warned of "the great danger of sinking ever deeper into a world where there are no more rules. We do not want to live in a world where only the law of the strongest applies."
The German Vice Chancellor also expressed "serious doubts about the legality of this war under international law."
Along the same lines, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that Italy is not part of the war and does not intend to get involved, emphasizing that the Italian government is working to protect the country's security and support peace efforts.
Meloni announced that he has held talks with Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz and Keir Starmer to avoid escalating the situation and to assess the possibility of resuming diplomatic negotiations.
Meloni: Italy is not part of the war and does not intend to enter it. The government is committed to protecting the security of Italy and its citizens and to supporting any initiative aimed at seeking peace. I had a conversation with Macron, Merz and Starmer to avoid further escalation. We are working, as far as possible, towards the objective of reducing tensions and to verify whether there is still a possibility to resume negotiations.
