The Turkish Deputy Minister of Education, Nazif Yilmaz, writes on Twitter that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "will die".
"One day they will shoot you too," he wrote on Twitter in response to a video posted by Netanyahu about the Israeli Air Force's attacks on Gaza.
Netanyahu was set to visit Turkey in the coming months after postponing a trip in July after having a pacemaker implanted.
Last month Erdogan sat down with Netanyahu in New York in the first known meeting between the two leaders.
The past year has seen a warming of ties between Israel and Turkey, following years of animosity between the two countries' leaders, largely over Turkish support for Hamas.
