Vladimir Putin is speaking with regional leaders in the Middle East and Russia is ready to contribute to resolving the Iran conflict, Moscow has said.
At his daily briefing with reporters, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia would make its contribution to resolving the conflict.
"The president is continuing these contacts and if our services are somehow required, we are, of course, ready to make our contribution to ensuring that the military situation transitions to a peaceful course as soon as possible," Peskov said.
Peskov was responding to a question about Donald Trump's address to the nation regarding the Iran war and his separate comment that he was considering withdrawing the US from NATO, an alliance which Peskov said Russia considered "hostile".
"Of course, easing tensions in the region and minimizing the negative consequences of this war are possible only through negotiations, through dialogue, for which such a summit could potentially become a good platform in the future," he said.
