Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a speech to military personnel gathered in the Kremlin following the rebellion of Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin.
He thanked the soldiers and officers for preventing riots and protecting the lives of the Russian people.
"Soldiers and officers are the true defenders of the homeland, who, even in a difficult time for the country, together with their comrades, prevented the unrest, which would inevitably result in chaos. You defended the constitution, lives, safety and freedom of our people. You saved our homeland from turmoil," Putin said.
He stated that if Wagner's rebellion had not been stopped, Russia would lose all its victories in Ukraine.
"It is not known what could have been left of this place," continued the Russian president.
Regarding the rebellion of Prigozhin's mercenaries, Putin said that it was not necessary for Moscow to call up the soldiers engaged in Ukraine.
According to him, Wagner has been fully supported by the Russian state and that Prigozhin has benefited greatly from this.
