Kuleba calls Stoltenberg: Make Ukraine a member of NATO, this is the way to
Kuleba and Stoltenberg

Ukraine's top diplomat, Dmytro Kuleba, said that Kiev is fighting old prejudices and misunderstandings about the consequences of his country's membership in the military alliance, NATO.

He also criticized former German leaders who blocked Ukraine's bid for membership 15 years ago. According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kulebas, Ukraine's NATO membership would not lead to another war with Russia.
On the contrary, in an interview with the medium Politico and the German newspapers Bild and Die Welt, he said that his country's membership in NATO is the "path to peace" in Europe.

He added that Ukraine does not expect membership to take place while the war with Russia continues, but "after the war, it would be suicide for Europe not to accept Ukraine as a member of NATO".

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz last month called on NATO leaders at their meeting in Vilnius in July to focus on boosting Ukraine's combat capacity during Kiev's counteroffensive against Russian forces.

A key issue to be raised during the July 11-12 meeting will be the future of relations between Ukraine and NATO, Scholz said.

But, the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, does not expect that NATO will approve Ukraine's request to launch an official invitation to join the alliance, at the next summit.

"At the summit in Vilnius, and as we prepare for the summit, we are not discussing the issue of the official invitation. We are discussing how to bring Ukraine closer to NATO," Stoltenberg said./Rel
