The clash of the ages: The head of the Catholic Church challenges the king of Silicon Valley...

Pope Leo XIV has openly criticized the growing gap between the salaries of corporate executives, such as Elon Musk, and ordinary workers, calling this economic inequality one of the main causes of the polarization that is shaking the world. The Tesla and SpaceX boss did not leave this statement of the first American-born leader of the Catholic Church unanswered.

In his first interview since his election in May, Pope Leo cited Musk as the most visible example of wealth that, in his opinion, undermines “the value of human life, family and society.” He recalled that recent news reports suggested Musk could become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027, while his current fortune is estimated at around $367 billion.

In response, Musk quoted a biblical passage about hypocrisy and recalled that the Catholic Church's wealth is estimated at around $2 trillion. Through social media, he put the Church in direct comparison, considering the Pope's accusation unbalanced.

The Pope, who was born in Chicago and served as a priest in Peru before moving to the Vatican in 2023, stressed that Musk is not alone. “Sixty years ago, CEOs earned four to six times more than an average worker. Today, according to the latest data, they earn over 600 times more,” he said.

In the same interview, the head of the Holy See reiterated calls for an end to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, expressing regret at the UN's inability to impose peace and effectively mediate in global conflicts. He added that the Vatican is trying to promote dialogue and the spirit of "human brotherhood."

His criticism of economic inequality came just a day after a major event in St. Peter's Square, where the Vatican hosted a meeting on "human fraternity." Ironically, the closing spectacle included a drone show by the company Nova Sky Stories, owned by Elon Musk's younger brother, Kimbal. /Pamphlet
