Tyler Robinson was formally charged today with aggravated intentional homicide, use of a firearm causing serious bodily harm, obstruction of justice, tampering with evidence and committing an act of violence in the presence of a child.
“ The murder of Charlie Kirk is an American tragedy ,” Utah District Attorney Jeff Gray said during a press conference this afternoon. “Charlie Kirk was killed while exercising one of the most sacred and precious American rights, the foundation of our democracy – the free exchange of ideas and the pursuit of truth, understanding and a stronger union among the states of America.”
Gray stressed that this act also constitutes "a crime against the state, against the peace of the people of Utah and against all those who visit these lands."
He also announced that the prosecution will seek the death penalty for Robinson, who is currently being held in custody without parole.
