A spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry on Tuesday spoke harshly about Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission.
In response to von der Leyen's remarks that "the people of Iran deserve freedom, dignity and the right to decide their own future," Iranian diplomat and Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei posted on X: "Please spare the hypocrisy."
"You have made a career of standing on the wrong side of history, greenlighting invasion, genocide, and atrocities, and now clearing up the crimes of aggression and war crimes committed by the US/Israel against Iranians," Baqaei wrote.
He continued, "Where was your voice when more than 165 innocent Iranian little angels were massacred in the city of Minab? Why don't you say anything when hospitals, historical sites, oil facilities, diplomatic police headquarters, fire stations, and residential neighborhoods are the targets of evil?"
"Silence in the face of lawlessness and cruelty is nothing more than complicity ," he writes.
