Ukrainian analyst Nicolas Davidiuk has spoken about the clashes that started in Kiev between President Zelensky and the head of the army, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The analyst emphasized that there is talk in Kiev that the Ukrainian president is trying to dismiss the army general.
According to him, this is because Zaluzhnyi has become a kind of superhero and has won the sympathy of Ukrainian citizens. He added to Euronews Albania that now the Ukrainian president sees the general who leads the war against Russia as a very popular man who can threaten his power.
"People support the president, but others support Mr. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who was also the military leader who has become an icon for this war.
Ever since Russia entered Ukraine, I think he's become some kind of superhero, and the idea of the president to fire him is not welcome. The citizens support the general and there are currently negotiations on this issue. But I want to emphasize that the citizens side with the general.
From my ideas, Zelensky is looking for new ideas and scenarios. There is also a political race as support for the general increased significantly. Zelensky and we, for our part, do not expect that there will be elections at this time.
Currently, the army commander is doing more work than Zelensky. The aim is to stockpile weapons for Ukraine in order to launch an even stronger counter-offensive," he said.
