US, new visa policy for foreign officials. Will Albania be affected?
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced visa suspensions for various officials around the world.
He has announced on social media that there will be a new visa policy for foreigners 'who are collaborators in the censorship of Americans'.
In a post on X, Rubio said that all those leaders and officials who take action against American citizens in their countries, for various reactions they have made publicly, will not set foot in the US. In short, anyone who attacks, intimidates, threatens and 'hits' Americans is declared undesirable.
“ For too long, Americans have been fined, harassed, and even prosecuted by foreign authorities for exercising their free speech rights. Today, I am announcing a new visa restriction policy that will apply to foreign officials and individuals who are complicit in the censorship of Americans. Free speech is fundamental to the American way of life – a birthright over which foreign governments have no authority.
"Foreigners who work to undermine the rights of Americans should not enjoy the privilege of traveling to our country. Whether in Latin America, Europe, or elsewhere, the days of passive treatment for those who work to undermine the rights of Americans are over ," he wrote.
It is interesting that Rubio also mentions Europe in his post. Let's not forget that in Albania, many politicians have often attacked American diplomats, but not only.
