
The head of the European Union's foreign policy, Josep Borrell, said today during a visit to Kiev that Ukraine needs more military aid and pledged the continued support of the EU.
"Ukraine needs more weapons and needs them faster," Borrell said in a post on X, noting that he discussed "continued EU military assistance" during his first meeting with the Ukrainian defense minister. Rustem Umerov.
"We are preparing long-term security commitments for Ukraine", added the European diplomat.
Umerov, the new defense minister since early September, thanked Borrell via X for his "continued support", stressing that the meeting was "a starting point for great cooperation".
According to the Ukrainian minister, discussions on EU military aid to Ukraine included, among others, artillery and ammunition, air defense, long-term aid programs, such as in electronic warfare, training and the location of the defense industry in Ukraine.
