Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stepped up personal attacks on his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, calling her "mentally ill" and calling for her to be prosecuted.
During a rally, Trump stated that Harris was responsible for the crisis on the US-Mexico border and should be held legally responsible for her actions.
"Joe Biden became mentally disabled, but Kamala was born that way. Sad. She lies and, frankly, I think she was born that way. Something is wrong with Kamala. I don't know what it is, but something is missing, and everybody knows it," Trump said.
With less than a month until the election, Trump has stepped up his use of personal attacks and offensive rhetoric, even as some Republicans suggest it would be more helpful to focus on core issues instead of attacks.
Kamala Harris has not directly reacted to Trump's latest statements, but in an earlier statement, she called them "an old show" that Americans are tired of hearing about.
