Several hundred Montenegrins protested on Friday near the Government of Montenegro building in Podgorica, demanding responsibility from political leaders, after the killing of 12 people in Cetinje.
Aco Martinovic killed twelve people, including two children, and injured four others on January 1 in Cetinje. A few hours later, he committed suicide.
Two boys aged 8 and 13 were among those killed.
Demonstrators initially remained silent to honor the dead and wounded. They planted 12 roses on the metal protective fence around the courtyard of the Government headquarters in Podgorica, symbolizing the number of those killed.
Later, expressing their displeasure at the actions of the authorities that evening, they chanted "Where were you on January 1?", "Where is Daniku Danillo Sharanovic [Minister of the Interior] who does not show up?", "Are the citizens to blame? " and "Murderers".
"You should have been in Cetinje, not guarding us here", cheered the citizens, alluding that Martinovic was not caught even six hours after committing the murders.
They also chanted the names of the murdered boys "Jovan" and "Vukan".
A section of the crowd tried to break the protective fence on several occasions.
"We have children and we are afraid that someone will repeat something similar. Who are you protecting, we are not armed and we have no illegal weapons", said Dushan Drakič from Podgorica addressing the policemen guarding the government building.
Due to the murder in Cetinje, two protests have been announced for Sunday, January 5 - in Cetinje and in Podgorica, in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs./REL
