Matt Gaetz, Pete Hegseth and Tulsi Gabbard: Trump's "revenge"
From left Matt Gaetz, Tulsi Gabbard and Pete Hegseth

Trump has stunned the world with his chosen ones, but what are the 3 names that have surprised everyone...

Pete Hegseth , a host of the "friendly" Fox News network, was chosen as the head of the most powerful military apparatus in the world. Matt Gaetz , a controversial senator still under investigation in the House of Representatives for his sexual behavior — he himself showed his colleagues pornographic videos allegedly involving minors — will take justice into his own hands.

While the responsibility for coordinating the 16 secret, civilian and military services of the United States will be entrusted to Tulsi Gabbard : former Democratic congresswoman, big fan of the leader of the liberal left, Bernie Sanders, who suddenly moved to the ranks of Republicans two years ago and has been actively involved, since last summer, in the Trump campaign.

Trump's seemingly incomprehensible appointments. Hegseth was a low-ranking officer in the National Guard. This experience is not enough to carry the weight of the Pentagon (budget 850 billion dollars and bases all over the world).

Gabbard also served briefly in the Hawaii National Guard, but was never affiliated with the Secret Service.

As for Gaetz, he has had some dealings with Justice, but almost always as an accused. Since he was arrested for drunk driving and then released after refusing to submit to the test.

But since Trump's spokeswoman, bombarded with questions about the appointments, tends not to give concrete answers, but reminds that the president-elect intends to honor the promises made to voters, it is useful to go back in time.

It is March 4, 2023. Trump launched his campaign, at that moment with an uncertain result, since he was being challenged by people who at that moment seemed to be able to withstand him, first of all the governor of Florida Ron DeSantis.

Donald chose as a springboard the conference of his ultra-conservative friends at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference). He introduces himself with a strong and clear message, welcomed with applause: “In 2016 I promised to be your voice. Now I promise to be your voice, your warrior, the one who will give you justice and, for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I will be the one who will bring revenge."

Viewed in this light, and in light of Trump's stated desire to dismantle administrative structures he considers hostile, these appointments clearly indicate that retaliation has begun.

Hegseth, as a Fox commentator, has repeated thousands of times that the military leaders, whom he accused of being captured, ie. that they were dependent on leftist subcultures, must be changed. He has reasons for anger (and a desire for revenge) against a military apparatus that kicked him out of the National Guard.

Even Goetz has room for revenge, as he is still under investigation for the sex scandal.

Tulsi Gabbard is angry with the security services because she claims she ended up on a blacklist of dangerous people because of her political positions, subjected to particularly harsh checks when returning from trips abroad. Allegations impossible to verify because "blacklists" of suspects are effectively secret.

But to understand how much Gabbard at the top of intelligence is destined to cause a giant headache for the Secret Service, just take a look at the positions she took in public: She was against the US military intervention in Syria and the Russian attack on Ukraine described it as a response to "provocations" by the United States. / Adapted "Pamphlet" from "Corriere della Sera"
