The Mediterranean has become a graveyard for immigrants, but North Africa is the biggest graveyard for them. With these words, Pope Francis expressed his concern about the issue of immigration while returning from his visit to Portugal.
He promised to discuss the issue at length with bishops and politicians during a visit to Marseille in September.
" This meeting is organized by the bishops of the Mediterranean countries, together with some politicians, in order to reflect the tragedy of immigrants. The Mediterranean is a graveyard, but not the biggest. The biggest one is in North Africa and this is terrible" , said the Pope.
A few weeks ago, the holy father called on world leaders to help migrants stranded in the African deserts and asked for concrete action against global warming.
