
More than 250 billionaires and millionaires are calling on the political elite gathered at the World Economic Forum in Davos to introduce wealth taxes to raise funds for better public services around the world.
"Our demand is simple: We ask you to tax us, the richest in society. It will not fundamentally change our standard of living, deprive our children of anything, or harm the economic development of our nations. But it will turn extreme and unproductive private wealth into an investment in our shared democratic future," they say in their open letter to world leaders.
According to the report of the British tabloid The Guardian, the rich signatories from 17 countries include the heiress of Disney, Abigail Disney and Brian Cox who played the character of the billionaire "Logan Roy" in the series Succession and Valerie Rockefeller, heir to the American dynasty.

According to the British newspaper, a new poll among millionaires showed that 74% support higher wealth taxes to tackle the cost of living crisis and improve public services. The survey, conducted by Survation on behalf of Patriotic Millionaires, included more than 2,300 respondents from G20 countries who own more than $1 million in "investable" assets, excluding their homes, and therefore the belong to the richest 5%.
The poll found that 58% support imposing a 2% wealth tax on people with more than $10 million and that 54% believe extreme wealth is a threat to democracy.
