Far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has sparked fresh tensions in the Middle East after his provocative visit to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem.
He was seen praying loudly in a sensitive area, openly challenging the religious and political status quo that maintains the balance between communities. His ascension recalled Ariel Sharon's famous "walk" 25 years ago, which ignited the Second Intifada and revived Palestinian terrorism.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel is committed to maintaining the 'status quo' on what Jews call the Temple Mount, but Defense Minister Yoav Katz reinforced the nationalist message by saying, "Israel will forever strengthen its control over Jerusalem and the Temple Mount."
On the other hand, Jordan, which holds symbolic status as the “custodian” of Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, called Ben-Gwir’s ascension a “flagrant violation of international law and an unacceptable provocation.” However, the reaction came only from a Foreign Ministry spokesman and not from King Abdullah himself.
Humanitarian crisis in Gaza: Only 10% of aid reaches
At the same time, the United Nations has warned of a deep humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where over 1 million women and girls risk dying from hunger. According to the UN, since the limited opening of border crossings by Israel, only 10% of humanitarian aid reaches civilians, while most is blocked or diverted.
Netanyahu, for his part, has denied the existence of a widespread famine in Gaza, calling it a "Hamas lie" and demanding that the focus be on aid for Israeli hostages held by Palestinian militants.
"Hamas is letting Jews starve to death, just like the Nazis did," he declared.
On the other hand, Hamas claims that hostages are treated the same as the civilian population and that it is willing to cooperate with the Red Cross, but only if Israel opens humanitarian corridors throughout Gaza territory.

Palestinian organizations Hamas and Islamic Jihad have released videos showing two extremely emaciated Israeli hostages begging for help and food. The family of one of them, Rom Braslavski, authorized the distribution of a chilling video that caused international reactions.
French President Emmanuel Macron called the video evidence of “heartless savagery” by Hamas. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz urged Israel “not to retaliate cynically” and to continue allowing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population.
The situation remains tense, with a reality where extreme rhetoric, provocative actions, and humanitarian blockades risk further deepening the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
