Despite the fact that the election of Donald Trump in the USA has raised hopes for reaching an agreement in Ukraine, Russia seems to have a plan for the further expansion of the conflict.
In a recent statement by the Russian Minister of Defense, Andrei Belousov, it was said that Russia is preparing for war with NATO, as well as to end its war against Ukraine. According to him, the decisions taken by the Atlantic Alliance suggest a military clash between them.
" The Russian Armed Forces this year addressed the objectives set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief as part of a fierce confrontation with the collective West, which continues to intensify and escalate. The Ministry of Defense is preparing for any development of the situation, including a possible military conflict with NATO in Europe in the next decade, as shown by the decisions that the North Atlantic Alliance took at the July summit. The creation of the Moscow and Leningrad military districts must be ended in response to NATO expansion. The Russian comments come as US President-elect Donald Trump called for a swift end to the fighting.

Belousov said Russia has taken the initiative in the fighting and aims to fully occupy Ukraine's Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Donetsk regions by next year.

Among other things, the Russian minister also requested the increase of capacities for the "Orshenik" medium-range ballistic missile, which can carry nuclear warheads and is almost unstoppable. According to him, the country should be prepared for a big war.

It is necessary to make a state, systematize the testing and organize the volume production of innovative technical products that would make it possible to save the lives of the Russian servicemen. It is necessary to create an integrated information environment for decision-making in tactical communication. The Russian Armed Forces must be fully manned for the purpose of the anticipated conflicts. The Ministry of Defense plans to modernize the system of military higher education institutions, including their facilities and resources. At the same time, Putin blamed the US for scaring people with a mythical Russian threat, while he himself sends "instructors" to help Ukraine. He blamed NATO for Russia's tensions with the West.
