A shocking video is making the rounds on social media and in Russian media, showing the moment a helicopter crashes after colliding with power lines in the Perm region, in the Ural Mountains.
The footage was released by Russian television RT, showing a black Robinson R44 Raven helicopter flying at low altitude, colliding with power cables and then crashing forcefully to the snow-covered ground in Asatli Park.
According to authorities, both people on board died, including Russian millionaire Ilya Gimatutdinov, founder of the Perm-based transportation company Tattranskom, and Elmir Konyakov, a senior executive at the same company.
Russian media reports that the helicopter was conducting an unauthorized flight, without permission from aviation authorities. The Urals Transport Prosecutor's Office has released additional video from the scene, clearly showing the power cables in which the helicopter became entangled.
Meanwhile, local authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash. It is initially suspected that a collision with an overhead power line was the main factor in the accident, but this has not yet been officially confirmed by the emergency services.
