Moscow denies airspace violation: Training flight over Kaliningrad, not over

The Russian Defense Ministry has reacted to accusations by NATO member Lithuania that two Russian military aircraft violated its airspace, in what Vilnius called a "flagrant violation of international law."

In a statement published on the official Telegram channel, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Su-30 fighter jets had conducted a "training flight" over the Kaliningrad region, a Russian enclave separated from the country's mainland and bordered by Lithuania and Poland.

According to Moscow, no state border of any other country was violated during the flight, while the statement does not mention Lithuania or its claim of airspace violation.

On the other hand, the Lithuanian government announced that two Russian aircraft, a Su-30 fighter and an Il-78 aerial refueling plane, entered Lithuanian airspace for 18 seconds, forcing NATO air forces to immediately take off to intercept them.

The incident occurred at a sensitive moment of tensions between Russia and alliance countries, particularly along the borders of the Baltic region, where Kaliningrad has become one of the most militarized points in Europe.
