In another incident, a strong wave swept ten people into the sea at the pier in Puerto de la Cruz, in the north of the island. Thanks to the intervention of police and passersby, most of them were saved, but one woman suffered a heart attack and died.
Three other people from the same group were seriously injured and were rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
