Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed a ceasefire focused on the energy sector, stating that Ukraine is ready to stop attacks on Russian energy infrastructure if Russia takes the same step.
He announced that European partners have recently conveyed messages about reducing attacks on the oil sector in Russia, as part of efforts to ease tensions.
Zelensky also expressed openness to a temporary ceasefire during the Easter holiday, describing this as an opportunity to start a process of de-escalation of the conflict.
"I emphasize once again that if Russia is willing not to attack Ukraine's energy sector, we will not attack their energy sector in response," he declared.
The energy sector, especially oil, remains essential for Ukraine, both for supporting military operations and for the agricultural sector, which constitutes one of the main foundations of the country's economy.
