Mother leaves her minor daughter to drown in the sea, the crime that is shocking

Greek authorities appear to have solved the macabre crime that shocked Greece in the last 48 hours, where a minor child was found drowned at sea, while the little girl was left there by her mother.

The child was found on Eden Beach in Paleo Faliro. The child was abandoned by the mother, claiming that the little girl was unconscious and she could no longer help her or take her to the hospital.

The woman told her version of events to authorities. The woman claimed that her child, who was sick, had a fainting episode, fell in the bathroom, hit his head, and lost consciousness.

She says she was scared because she did not have legal residency documents in the country, and so she took the child to the beach in a stroller, intending to abandon him there.

Crying, she told the Coast Guard that she had not taken the child to the hospital because she was in Greece illegally and was afraid of being arrested.

To the constant questions about "why did you leave the child in the sea," she initially replied that she believed the child was already dead and abandoned it on the beach.

But then she said she went into the sea with him and at one point went into deep water to wash him and there "the child could not stand and probably drowned."

Authorities are now investigating the possibility that the child was indeed in a coma, as seen in the security camera footage, and then died from drowning. That is, she fell into the sea while semi-conscious and drowned shortly after. The mother's exact role in the child's drowning remains to be determined.

The coroner found multiple blows to the child's body, a bruise on his forehead and facial bruising, as well as visible injuries to various parts of the body.

The woman was arrested this morning, while authorities had been searching for her since yesterday as a suspect in the case of the little girl who was found dead on Eden Beach in Paleo Faliro.

This woman, who turned out to be the child's mother, was filmed with a stroller and two children in the Paleo Faliro area.

She is of Algerian origin and does not speak Greek. Officers in Gada requested an interpreter to take her initial statement.
