Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that his country is acting to weaken the Iranian regime, with the aim of giving the Iranian people the opportunity to overthrow it.
Commenting on the killings of Ali Larijani and Basij paramilitary commander Gholamreza Soleimani, Netanyahu used harsh language against Iranian security structures. He described Larijani as “the head of the Revolutionary Guard,” which he described as a structure that “de facto governs Iran,” while he said of the Basij commander that he was part of the forces that “spread fear among the population itself in Tehran and other cities.”
Netanyahu also emphasized cooperation with the United States and allies in the Persian Gulf. He announced that he had spoken with US President Donald Trump the day before, underlining coordination between the air and naval forces, as well as at the political level.
"We are helping our American friends in the Persian Gulf. There is cooperation between our forces and the American administration. We will act both through indirect pressure on the Iranian regime and through direct operations," he declared.
In his speech, Netanyahu hinted that Israel could take other strategic actions in the future. He said the country would conduct the conflict with "smart strategy," without revealing details, adding that "there are still many surprises ahead."
