Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel was not ready to accept a deal on any terms for the release of hostages held by Hamas.
The comments came as the hostage deal threatens to split the country's right-wing cabinet, endangering his government.
" Efforts to release the hostages are continuing at all times. As I emphasized in the Security Cabinet - we will not agree to any agreement and under any conditions ," he declared.
Last week, far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir wrote on the X platform, formerly Twitter, that "a reckless deal will bring about the dissolution of the government."
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ben-Gvir also openly supported Donald Trump and said the US response would be "completely different" if he were in power.
Without directly mentioning Mr. Ben-Gvir, Netanyahu dismissed the comment, saying he does not need US and international help to protect the country's interests.
" I don't need any help in navigating our relationship with the US and the international community, resolutely defending our national interests ," he said.
