Aleksandar Vučić, at the Summit of the European Political Community in Granada, had to explain to many Western leaders the situation in the north of Kosovo, Vladimir Putin spoke and gave support to Serbia ...
On Thursday, Aleksandar Vucic was in Granada, at the Summit of the European Political Community, when for the first time after the conflict in Banjska, he had to face "face to face" with European officials to defend the position that Serbia had nothing to do with the event . Even though the responsibility for the events of September 24 was taken by the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Milan Radoiçiç.
But as the imposition of sanctions against Serbia is being mentioned more and more often, on the same day Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted.
" Many times I heard: "We have to put pressure on them, they are the weak link". Such is the philosophy. Why exactly should the Serbs be hit? To be honest, I don't know. Even, in open conversations with certain leaders when we were still in normal relations, they told me: "We must increase the pressure." I asked him why and got no answer. This is exactly how such a philosophy, a paradigm, has been created, that pressures must be increased ," Putin said at the Valdai Forum, speaking about the West's policy towards Serbia, and then added:
" But the Serbs are not such people, it is not such a history, it is a different culture. Perhaps I will say a difficult thing: it is possible to destroy them, but it is impossible to break and subdue them. The West does not understand this. But I hope that sooner or later there will be an understanding of this component in both European and global politics in general - there will be an understanding that it is still more constructive to negotiate instead of trying to put pressure on them. "
The worst situation since the fall of Milosevic
Commenting on the fact that Putin chose this very moment to send a message to Serbia and the Serbs, Vladimir Medjak from the European Movement in Serbia says that what Vucic is doing is much more important than Putin, as he said that Serbia is in the most difficult situation bad since the fall of Milosevic
" For us, it is not important what Putin says, but what our leadership does. The timing of this whole event could not be worse for Serbia, for the simple reason that at this moment the decision on the next expansion is being broken. At that moment, we come to a situation where we are again perceived and identified as someone who starts armed conflicts or is suspected of being responsible for armed conflicts ", says Medjak for the newspaper "Nova".
According to him, the position of Serbia has changed by 180 degrees since September 24. The former ambassador and diplomat Sreçko Djukic has the same opinion, who says that this situation has shown that Serbia is just a toy in the hands of the big powers.
Rreziku i sanksioneve
Me atë rast Medjak shprehet:
" He can no longer perform that function in any way, with the same capacity and ability to protect the state interest. See Putin. He has not left the country since February 2022. The president of a country that is a permanent member of the Security Council. It's not sanctions, it's an arrest warrant. He was not even allowed to go to the BRICS summit that he himself founded. It will be a serious problem for Vuč and the state itself ", concludes Međak. /Adapted "Pamphlet" from "Nova"
