A Palestinian soldier has been killed and eight others wounded after an airstrike by Israeli forces on the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Authority, the eight injured were transported to the hospital and are in a stable state of health.

The Israeli military said the raid was carried out by a fighter jet and a helicopter.

The Israeli military also said the target of the raid was a building it said was being used as an operations command center, while confirming the death of Islamist Hamas, which it blamed for a series of attacks against Israelis.
