The Minister for Regional Affairs and Autonomies, Roberto Calderoli, has received a death threat letter.
In the letter sent in recent days, an anonymous sender accuses Calderol of genocide against the south and threatens him with death.
The episode took place in a climate of growing political tension, particularly over the issue of regional autonomy. Calderoli, a member of the League, was one of the main supporters of the reform. He denounced the incident on social networks, stating that he was not afraid of threats and would continue to work for regional autonomy, foreign media wrote.
The political forces of the entire parliamentary spectrum have expressed their solidarity with the minister. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the case and invited her cabinet to work together "head up". The President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, expressed his personal solidarity and that of the Senate, underlining that in the face of similar gestures, the condemnation can only be unanimous.
