Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with former US President Donald Trump in Florida on Thursday after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization meeting in Washington.

The meeting follows Orban's visits to Kiev, Moscow and Beijing to find a way to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

"We discussed ways to make peace," Orban said via platform X, next to a photo with Donald Trump.

Their meeting took place at Mr Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. "The good news of the day: he will solve it!", added the Hungarian Prime Minister, without giving any other details about what they discussed.

The two politicians, who have met repeatedly, often express admiration for each other.

After all, the motto of Hungary's six-month EU presidency is "Make Europe Great Again", inspired by Mr Trump's "Make America Great Again".

Their most recent meeting was in March, when the Hungarian prime minister called Mr Trump a "president of peace" and the former Republican president called Mr Orban a "fantastic leader".

Mr Trump's shadow loomed large at the NATO summit, and his meeting with Orban comes amid uncertainty over whether Joe Biden will indeed be the Democratic nominee in November's election, when he aims to win a second term.

The Democratic president made a spectacular gaffe at the summit, confusing "President Putin" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, before rushing to make amends.

Then, at the press conference he gave a few hours later, he started talking about "Vice President Trump", apparently referring to Kamala Harris.

"Great job, Joe," Donald Trump said via Social Truth.
