The Palestinian Authority condemned the passage of a law by the Israeli parliament that would allow the execution of Palestinians convicted of deadly attacks, calling it a "dangerous escalation."
In a response to Platform X, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry based in Ramallah stated that "Israel has no sovereignty over Palestinian land."
" This law once again reveals the nature of the Israeli colonial system, which aims to legitimize extrajudicial killings under legal cover ," the statement said.
Reporting from the area near Ramallah, Al Jazeera's Nour Odeh stressed that the law is part of a series of measures that human rights organizations consider evidence of institutional racism against Palestinians.
According to her, organizations that focus on prisoners' rights have recalled that dozens of Palestinians have lost their lives due to abuses in Israeli prisons. "This bill essentially legalizes their murder," she said.
