Pope Francis has called for a solution to the conflict and war in Ukraine that would lead to a just and lasting peace.
He says that this war is destroying the country and inciting global fear and hatred.
"So many victims, wounded, destruction, anxiety and tears in a period that is becoming terribly long and that has no end in sight.
It is a war that not only destroys that region, but also unleashes global waves of hatred and fear. I ask that that bit of humanity be found to create the conditions for a diplomatic solution in search of a just and lasting peace," the Pope said during his weekly Angelus message.
Yesterday marked the second anniversary of the launch of Russian attacks on Ukraine.
