British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has held a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to discuss the war in Ukraine and Russia's use of the Oreshnik missile.
A Downing Street spokesman said leaders unanimously condemned Russia's use of the Oreshnik intermediate-range ballistic missile in western Ukraine as escalating and unacceptable.
Starmer said it was clear that Russia was using fabricated allegations to justify the attack, as Moscow said the attack came in retaliation for a drone strike launched from Ukraine against one of Vladimir Putin's residences.
Volodymyr Zelensky has called these allegations "false" and Donald Trump said that US checks had shown that the residence was not targeted.
The prime minister also told other outlets that the NATO alliance should intervene in the region to deter adversaries like Russia.
