The Israeli army has ordered residents living in 28 communities near the border with Lebanon to evacuate.
The October 16 order comes at a time of increased crossfire on the border between Israel and Lebanon's Shiite Hezbollah militia.
The evacuation order affects communities that are 2 kilometers from the border. The Hezbollah group has said that the increased attacks are a warning and do not mean that Hezbollah has decided to go to war with Israel.
The order comes a day after the United States warned of a possible escalation of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan stated that there is still a risk that the militant group Hezbollah or Iran will be directly involved in Israel's war with Hamas.
Israel has previously stated that it can fight on two fronts in case of any attack by Hezbollah.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, after the militant group launched coordinated attacks by land, air and sea. Israel retaliated strongly, bombing the Gaza Strip.
