White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said the US president expects Hamas to accept his proposal for Gaza, adding that the US could impose consequences if the group does not do so.
Since Israel's war in Gaza began nearly two years ago, the US has often pushed forward Israeli-backed proposals that are unlikely to win Palestinian support, and then blamed Hamas as the main obstacle to ending the conflict, Aljazeera reports.
"It's a red line that the president of the United States will have to draw, and I'm confident he will, " Leavitt said in an interview with Fox News.
On Tuesday, Trump said he was giving Hamas "three or four days" to respond to his plan for Gaza.
