US President Donald Trump says the world is closer than ever to a Middle East that is "finally free from Iranian terror and nuclear blackmail".
"For 47 years, Iran has been known as the concern of the Middle East, but they are no longer a concern. They are on the run," Trump said, according to Sky News.
He repeated his claims that the US military is the most powerful in the world, as well as that Iran would use nuclear weapons if it had developed them and that the Iranian military has been "destroyed."
He said that Washington and Tehran are currently negotiating and "it would be very good if we could do something."
He called on Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
"They should open the Trump Strait, I mean, the Strait of Hormuz. The fake media will say I said that by accident, but no, there are no accidents with me," Trump said.
The US president said that Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, "is no longer supreme" and that Iran is "the only country where nobody wants to be the leader."
Referring to a "gift" he claims Iran sent to the US, Trump said it was 10 tankers as part of negotiations to end the war, suggesting it was a form of apology.
"It turns out I was right. They are negotiating, which they admitted two days later. And to make up for their misstatement, they said they were going to send eight more oil tankers, even though they were only supposed to send two," Trump said.
Speaking about NATO, he said he was disappointed by the Alliance's decision not to help in the fight against Iran.
"I've always said that NATO is a paper tiger. If there was ever a big war, I guarantee you they wouldn't be there," Trump said, alluding to a possible World War III.
He called French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz friends, but also expressed his dissatisfaction that they distanced themselves from the war against Iran.
"Ukraine wasn't even our war, but we helped them," he said.
