"Iran's nuclear program a serious concern"/ Iran hits back

Iran has hit back at French President Emmanuel Macron, accusing him of "extraordinary hypocrisy" over his comments on Iran's nuclear program, as military clashes with Israel continue to escalate.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said it was "shameful" that Macron was presenting Iran's nuclear program as a threat while Israel was carrying out direct attacks on Iranian civilian targets and scientists.

"Shameful! Israel attacks peaceful nuclear facilities, bombs homes and kills Iranians in cold blood, in clear violation of international law. But Macron chose this very moment to manipulate the Iranian nuclear issue. The hypocrisy is unbelievable," Baqaei wrote on the "X" platform.

Macron's comments came after he announced he had held a conversation with the new Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian. In a post on the social network "X", he stressed that the Iranian nuclear issue "is serious" and called for Iran to return to the negotiating table.

"The Iranian nuclear issue is important and must be resolved through negotiations. I called on President Pezeshkian to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible to reach an agreement, as the only way to avoid escalation. Meanwhile, indirect nuclear talks between the US and Iran, scheduled for Sunday in Muscat, Oman, have been canceled. The situation in the region has become significantly tense following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear and military facilities, which reportedly killed several senior Iranian commanders and scientists, while Iran has responded with counterattacks ," Macron wrote.
