During the incidents in Chania, farmers also overturned a police vehicle. The farmers tried to break the police blockade, but the police responded by throwing chemical agents and incidents followed.
Footage from the scene showed farmers throwing stones at police as tensions rose by the minute. A civilian and a police officer were injured during the incidents.
