
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had spoken with French President Emmanuel Macron after Russia's largest air strike against Ukraine.
"We are coordinating our diplomatic efforts, further steps and contacts with our partners to ensure an appropriate response," Zelensky said on the Telegram messaging app.
A fire broke out in the building housing the Ukrainian government in Kiev after a wave of Russian bombing overnight in the city, killing at least five people, three in the capital.

"For the first time" since the outbreak of war in February 2022, "the roof and upper floors of the government building were damaged by enemy fire," Prime Minister Svirydenko said on Telegram, uploading photos showing damage to part of the building, flames partially visible from two windows, and a helicopter dropping water.
Most of Ukraine has been on high alert since last night.
The capital was the target of a widespread drone attack, with at least three people dead, an elderly woman, a young woman and a little girl, and 18 others injured, according to emergency services.
Many other buildings were also damaged in the night raids.
