Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of killing Republican activist Charlie Kirk in the US a few days ago during a public meeting, has made statements on social media while being sought by the FBI.
According to the New York Times, investigators have now obtained several conversations on Discord, an online messaging platform, where other users wrote that the person in the photo released as the suspected perpetrator was Tyler Robinson. One of them wrote to the 22-year-old, asking: "Where are you?"
Robinson responded within 1 minute, joking: "It's my lookalike, he's trying to get me into trouble."
Another user wrote that the suspect is Tyler.
The messages do not provide any information on the possible motive for the shooting, which has been hotly debated by those trying to link the killing to political motives.
Robinson's acquaintances said he was highly intelligent, followed current events and spent a lot of time online or playing video games. He was registered to vote, but was not affiliated with any political party and appears to have never voted in an election. His parents are registered Republicans.
The 22-year-old remained on the run for about 33 hours until he was arrested by the FBI for the murder of activist Charlie Kirk.
It was the 22-year-old's father himself who handed his son over to American authorities as soon as he got home.
