According to CNN in Greece, the Cypriot Interior Ministry has announced that the Akrotiri Municipal District will remain under evacuation status until Friday, March 6, when authorities will review the measure based on an assessment of the situation. The decision is related to developments in the Iran war.
The ministry announced that the authorities are proactively informing the residents of the areas of Timi, Anarita and Mandria, as well as Ormideia, Xylofagos and Xylotympos. The local authorities, in cooperation with the Civil Defence Force (CivilDefenceCy), are sending messages to inform citizens about the designated points for temporary shelter, in case the evacuation of these areas is deemed necessary.
Authorities also contacted the Pyla community leader to inform residents.
Civil Protection teams continue patrols in the Akrotiri area and maintain contact with residents who fled their homes, in order to provide the necessary assistance and instructions.
