Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it has targeted what it described as "counter-revolutionary" groups in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq, the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim reported.
According to an IRGC statement, "the positions of counter-revolutionary groups in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq were destroyed with the launch of 30 drones."
However, two Kurdish groups contacted by international media confirmed that the attacks took place, but disputed the figures published by the Iranian side regarding the number of drones used.
The Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) said it had been hit by three drones, reporting one minor injury as a result of the attack. Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) said it had been targeted by a single drone.
There is no independent information to date to confirm the exact number of aircraft used or the extent of damage caused. The situation remains tense, with claims from both sides presenting different versions of the scale of the operation.
