Hezbollah has claimed to have shot down an Israeli drone and fired at Israel Defense Forces (IDF) tanks in Lebanese territory today.
In a statement, the group said that "in response to the criminal Israeli aggression, the Islamic Resistance shot down an Israeli drone in the sky of Nabatiyeh, using appropriate weapons."
In another announcement, Hezbollah also claimed to have hit Israeli Merkava tanks near the villages of Kfar Shouba and Kfarkela, in southern Lebanon.
As of the publication of this news, the IDF has not officially reacted to the claims made by the Lebanese group and there is no independent confirmation of the downing of the drone or possible damage.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching dozens of rockets and several drones into northern Israel. These developments come against a backdrop of escalating tensions following attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, which is considered a supporter of Hezbollah.
A senior official in the group has warned that, if Israel aims for an "open war," Hezbollah is ready for such a confrontation.
The conflict, which began with American-Israeli attacks on Iran, has already involved several actors in the Gulf region and the wider Middle East, raising concerns about a broader regional escalation.
