Just hours before the start of the student protest, North Macedonia's Justice Minister, Igor Filkov, reiterated that the bar exam cannot be held in Albanian, stating that there is no longer room for debate on this issue.
Asked about the reactions and requests for the use of the Albanian language in this professional exam, Filkov said that the topic is now considered closed. "The jurisprudence exam is a professional and not an administrative process. We have nothing to comment on," he declared.
Filkov stressed that the current government will not allow political interpretations of the Constitution and laws, adding that previous practices, according to him, have ended with the change of power.
He stated that the state should function based on the law and the Constitution, not according to political or public pressures.
"The constitution is not a topic for television shows. Anything else is pressure and this will not pass," the minister said.
Filkov's position on this issue has remained unchanged from the beginning, rejecting the possibility of the jurisprudence exam being organized in the Albanian language.
This statement by the Minister of Justice comes at a time when the leaders of VLENI, after a meeting with Prime Minister Mickoski, have received guarantees that the issue of using the Albanian language in the Jurisprudence exam would find a positive solution.
