Reuters: Hamas leaders survived Israeli attack in Doha

According to internal Hamas sources for the international agency Reuters, senior officials of this group, including negotiators for the ceasefire, have survived an Israeli airstrike carried out this Monday in the capital of Qatar, Doha.

The main target of this attack was Khalil al-Hayya, the exiled political chief of Hamas and one of the key figures in the negotiating team brokered by Qatar and the US. Official Israeli sources confirmed that the strike was a direct hit on the Hamas leadership, while no details were given on the means used or al-Hayya's exact location after the attack.

According to Reuters reports and witnesses on the ground, loud explosions were heard in the city's Legtifya area, a residential area near a gas station that has been under 24-hour guard by Qatar's Emiri Guard since the start of the Gaza war. Black smoke filled the sky as ambulances and security forces surrounded the area an hour after the attack.

Palestinian media also report that two people were killed in the Israeli airstrike in Doha, but senior Hamas leaders were not killed.

Reports name the dead as Himam al-Hayya, the son of Hamas leader in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, and Jihad Labad, the director of Khalil al-Hayya's office.
