Central European countries are more convinced that they can withstand a second presidency of Donald than the Western ones, especially Germany, where they "tremble" at the prospect of a "Trump 2.0".
"The idea is a bit terrifying," EU diplomat Steven Everts, who will soon become director of the Institute for Security Studies, explained to the American newspaper.
"Given the large role the United States plays in European security, we need to rethink what this means for our policy. and defense, as well as for Ukraine", he said.

While Ivo Daalder, former US ambassador to NATO, underlined that the Europeans "are very, very worried about the 2024 elections and the impact they will have" on the Alliance.
And the fear of the tycoon's return to power, again according to the "New York Times", would also be one of the possible factors that would have pushed the US, South Korea and Japan towards diplomatic progress.
