A senior spokesman for Hamas, Osama Hamdan, stated that the reason for the breakdown of the cease-fire agreement was the US and also Israel's great desire to resume the bloodshed.
" We blame both sides for the failure, the Israeli side and the American side. It was clear yesterday that the Israeli side wants to return to fighting as several ideas were put forward by the mediators and we accepted three of them, and despite that the Israeli side said 'no, no, no' every time ," he said.
He accused US Secretary of State Antony Blinken of being the one who gave the green light for the resumption of hostilities when he met with Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday.
" Therefore there was a hidden purpose for the Israelis that was accompanied by an American green light and the Israeli side resumed the bombing of Gaza this morning ," he said.
He said Qatar and Egypt had told him they wanted to continue mediation and that Hamas was willing to return to the negotiating table for serious negotiations.
" We believe that the Qatari side will continue its communications and we will be ready to engage with them if the Israelis respond and stop the aggression ," he said, SkyNews reports.
