"Crazy Vlad's" secret girlfriend has resurfaced, while the Russian president is on the hunt for her former partner.
Alina Kabaeva was a rising gymnast in 2001 when Russian President Vladimir Putin, then 49, attended an event where she was performing. The “Tsar” apparently expressed sympathy for Alina and obtained her contact information. Most likely, an agent was hired to gather information on Alina.
In 2006, rumors began circulating that the pair were having an affair. At the time, Alina was dating a man 15 years her senior, a law enforcement officer named David Museliani.
In April 2008, the Russian newspaper Moskovsky Korrespondent reported Alina's engagement to Putin, but the information was quickly denied and the publication was closed.
Since 2008, Alina has kept her personal life a secret from the public at all costs. She recently appeared on Instagram, with a post from her "official" account praising a performance at the AEON Cup Club Championship.
"Alina" wrote: "the girls showed an extraordinary result, a gold medal in the junior sculls and a silver medal in the team competition! But this is just the beginning. I am convinced that even more victories await us!".
According to the Russian publication Telegraf, rumors have been circulating online for years that the athlete has given birth to several children for Russian dictator Putin.
As for Alina's ex-boyfriend, David Museliani, he and Alina broke up shortly after the Putin rumors spread. To heal his broken heart, David left law enforcement and entered the Moscow real estate market, opening his own store.
However, in 2022, as reported by the Daily Mail, Alina's ex-boyfriend was wanted by Russian intelligence agencies. The Russian Investigative Committee charged David Museliani with embezzlement of public funds in connection with sabotage in Arctic ports, and he is on the international wanted list in Russia. If extradited to Moscow, he faces up to five years in prison.
